Dr. Jorge A. Santiago-Blay completed his BS and MS in Biology, with emphasis in zoology, at the University of Puerto Rico. In 1990, he completed his MA in Botany and PhD in Entomology at the University of California at Berkeley. Since 1998, he has pursued his research interests in arthropods and plants as a Research Associate in the Department of Paleobiology at the National Museum of Natural History (Washington, DC). Also, he has served as a faculty member at the University of Maryland, University College where he is an Adjunct Professor. In addition, he serves as Editor-in-Chief of Life: The Excitement of Biology (blaypublishers.com) and as Scientific Co-Editor of the book series, Research in Chrysomelidae. His professional career is divided in three facets: research, teaching, and administration.
1. Published numerous peer-reviewed, scientific papers and book chapters in biology, with emphasis on arthropods and their interactions with plants. 2. Dr. Santiago-Blay has over 30 years of college-level experience, including teaching numerous biology courses, ranging from the molecular to the ecological. He has been nominated several times for teaching awards and in 2014 he won the James Burnett Teaching Award at Penn State York in 2014.
3. Over 15 years of chief editorial experience in scientific venues (e.g. http://blaypublishers.com/). Also, experienced in academic administration, including having served as Department Head, Program Director, etc. in several institutions of higher learning.
